Foodscapes
Toward Food System Transition
A foodscape is a specific area of food production, defined by the combination of biophysical characteristics and management attributes in that area.
Foodscapes
Foodscapes can be consolidated into biophysical groupings that are identified by the dominant soil type found in each of them. Soil type is determined by the interaction of parent material, climate, vegetation, terrain, time, and human activity.
Soil groups are inclusive of the biophysical attributes of an area.
Foodscapes Intensity
Intensity groups are inclusive of the land management attributes of an area.
Crops
Dominant crops are the primary agricultural product grown within a specific area. They represent the crops with the highest production level among all the crops at each pixel.
